2022 Uganda Medical Mission
(Mukono District)

In 2020, the Indo-Africa Charitable Society expanded its medical outreach efforts to Mukono, Uganda, delivering essential eye and oral healthcare services to underserved families across the district. Many residents in surrounding rural communities face limited access to specialized medical care, often traveling long distances for even basic treatment.

Hope in Every Check-up

Many residents in surrounding rural communities face limited access to specialized medical care, often traveling long distances for even basic treatment. Through collaboration with local leaders and healthcare workers, the mission established temporary outreach clinics that provided comprehensive vision screenings, dental assessments, and immediate treatment for common yet preventable conditions. Patients received prescription eyeglasses, infection treatment, pain relief, and preventative care support — services that significantly improved daily functioning and overall well-being.

Beyond direct treatment, the Mukono mission emphasized education and sustainability. Volunteers conducted community awareness sessions focused on oral hygiene practices, early detection of eye conditions, and preventative healthcare habits for children and adults alike. By combining hands-on medical care with knowledge-sharing, the mission empowered families to take proactive steps toward long-term health. The 2020 Mukono outreach not only alleviated immediate medical needs but also strengthened community trust, local partnerships, and the foundation for continued healthcare support in the region.

During the mission, more than 700 patients were served across multiple clinic days. Approximately 400 individuals received eye examinations, with over 250 pairs of prescription eyeglasses distributed to restore functional vision.

The dental team conducted more than 350 oral health consultations and performed close to 180 extractions for advanced decay and infection-related pain. Educational outreach sessions engaged an estimated 600 community members, providing practical instruction on preventative hygiene and early symptom recognition.

Follow-up coordination with local providers ensured continued care pathways for complex cases. Overall, the mission demonstrated measurable impact through reduced untreated infections, improved daily productivity for patients receiving vision correction, and strengthened community health awareness in Mukono.
