Uganda Heart Institute
Partnership with Uganda Heart Institute & Jinja Regional Referral Hospital
Uganda faces an estimated 16,000 newborn cases of congenital heart disease annually, yet surgical capacity remains limited and largely centralized in Kampala. Many children face prolonged waiting periods, and tragically, some do not receive life-saving procedures in time.
Compassion Meets Cardiology!
To address this gap, IACS has committed to raising $108,000 USD to equip Jinja Regional Referral Hospital with critical cardiac surgical equipment.
By strengthening regional surgical capacity, the initiative aims to decentralize care, reduce patient backlogs, and enable more heart surgeries to be performed safely within Uganda.
This investment represents a long-term systems-level solution designed to impact thousands of pediatric cardiac patients over time.

Jinja Regional Referral Hospital has already improved diagnostic capacity with a resident cardiologist and growing patient caseload. However, without proper surgical equipment, the hospital cannot perform many life-saving procedures locally.
This initiative aims to: expand local surgical capacity, reduce wait times for life-saving heart surgery, prevent unnecessary deaths, strengthen Uganda’s healthcare system long-term, reduce dependence on overseas medical travel, inspired by Jeremiah’s story, this project ensures more children can receive treatment safely within their own country.
