2025 Kawempe Flood Relief
(Kampala Uganda)

On April 3rd, 2025, severe flooding struck Kawempe Division in Kampala, resulting in loss of life and widespread displacement. Many families lost their homes, belongings, and access to essential resources such as food, clean water, and hygiene supplies.

Hope After Floods

In response, Indo Africa Charitable Society partnered with Touched Hearts to launch the Hope After Floods Project, delivering emergency food, hygiene kits, and essential household supplies to affected families. The rapid response initiative provided immediate stabilization support and restored dignity to households facing sudden displacement. By coordinating with local leadership and medical professionals, the project ensured targeted and efficient distribution of relief resources.

Following the devastating floods that impacted the Kawempe Hope community in 2025, the Indo-Africa Charitable Society mobilized quickly in 2020’s ongoing Uganda outreach efforts to provide critical medical relief and recovery support. Floodwaters had displaced families, damaged homes, and increased the risk of waterborne illness, infection, and untreated chronic conditions. In response, our volunteer medical team partnered with local leaders to establish temporary outreach clinics focused on eye care, oral health, and urgent primary care needs. Many residents had lost access to routine services, and the mission provided immediate screenings, treatment for infections, dental extractions for severe decay, and distribution of hygiene kits to promote safe sanitation practices during recovery.

Beyond direct medical intervention, the Kawempe Hope mission prioritized health education and resilience. Community workshops emphasized safe water practices, infection prevention, oral hygiene, and early symptom detection — essential knowledge in post-flood conditions. Volunteers also worked closely with families to identify high-risk individuals requiring follow-up care and referral support. The outreach not only addressed immediate health concerns but also helped restore a sense of stability and hope during a period of uncertainty. By standing alongside the Kawempe Hope community after the floods, the mission reinforced our long-term commitment to sustainable healthcare and compassionate disaster response in Uganda.
